Stephanie Clymer, MSW, LCSW, brings a vibrant blend of passion, expertise, and genuine care to her role as a licensed mental health therapist. At the CalmOCD offices in Scottsdale, AZ, and capabilities for telehealth therapy across Arizona and Illinois, Stephanie is dedicated to making therapeutic services accessible and welcoming for everyone.
In her four years since obtaining her post-graduate degree, Stephanie has cultivated a diverse skill set in treating mental health disorders. Her experience spans residential and partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient and school settings, crisis intervention, integrative care, and private practice. Stephanie’s heart particularly lies in supporting children, teens, and families navigate their mental health journeys. It’s vitally important to her that everyone she works with has a great experience with therapy.
Early intervention is Stephanie’s mantra, especially when it comes to young children under the age of 8. Recognizing the pivotal role of family in therapy, she’s honed her expertise in play therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and emotion-focused family therapy. Stephanie also uses Parent-Led Exposure Therapy for young children. Stephanie’s approach is rooted in the belief that empowering parents and involving the family transforms the therapy process into a shared journey of healing and growth.
As a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Illinois, Stephanie’s depth of experience in managing substance use programs illuminates her holistic view of treatment. She’s a staunch advocate for addressing substance use and mental health disorders concurrently, ensuring comprehensive care for individuals and their families.
Stephanie’s commitment extends to individuals battling disordered eating and eating disorders. Her use of exposures and radically open dialectical behavioral therapy, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, ensures that every aspect of her client's well-being is nurtured towards recovery. She has worked with eating disorder clients in residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient settings both for adolescents and adults.
At the heart of Stephanie’s practice is the conviction that a therapeutic alliance based on trust is fundamental. She embodies authentic compassion, unconditional belonging, and radical candor in every interaction. Understanding that treatment for OCD and related challenges can appear daunting, Stephanie is all about demystifying the process and empowering her clients. She aims to make every session a step towards rediscovering the joys of life without the shadows of OCD.
Joining the CalmOCD family has been a highlight of Stephanie’s career. Here, she’s part of a vibrant team committed to crafting personalized treatments that reflect the uniqueness of each individual and family, as well as providing continuing education for other therapists and organizations in the greater Phoenix area. She also facilitates a twice-monthly SPACE parenting group for parents of children with OCD and anxiety.
She loves spending time outside with her three dogs, soaking up the Arizona sun on hikes. Since moving to Scottsdale from the Midwest, she has found herself at home in the rural desert near her neighbors and their animals (including horses and zebras!). Stephanie Clymer is more than a therapist; she’s a dedicated ally, excited to walk with you towards a future brimming with hope, healing, and self-discovery. With Stephanie and CalmOCD, you’re not just starting therapy; you’re stepping into a community of care designed with you and your family in mind.
